Concept In-Progress: Vertical T-Pillar Steampunk Gunship

From some quick doodles, I wanted to do something more in the style of the BF109's more boxy frame.
I've also been toying around with a posable cockpit and an A-symmtetrical design. Akin to Star War's B-wing and the Dark Elf Harrows in Thor the Dark World.
After a few profile block outs, finding a blocky profile that works as a flying vertical wing has proven difficult. I think i'll have to break down the idea into individual components and then reattach them to gain the profile.
Because there's a feature I universally want, a caged cockpit, i started to develop it. Staring with the profile in flat and then deforming into to give it depth, cutting into it with the multi cut tool, bezeling the lines and then removing the space I want to have empty.
I ran into issues where it ended up I somehow had two lines ontop of each other in certain areas of the grid. By using Vertex Faces i was able to find where they were, and then merge the vertices to remove the aberrant lines.

I found the cage was too open and the vertical position was a bit awkward, i then went for a traditional rised angle for optimal crew positions and also providing a angle on the cage which adds to protection and aerodynamics. I added some placeholders where i'd like cannon and the profile seems to be building well.
After watching some anime, I found this fighter design from Aldnoah Zero to be very interesting, the wing looks viable but also abstract/
